Softball – Cessna Activity Center (CAC) and Plainview City Fields (Saturday, July 31 & Sunday, August 1)
: Golf – Sierra Hills Golf Club (Friday, July 30 only): July 30 – August 1, 2010
- Tournament was previously hosted in Winfield for 35 years
- High Touch, Inc. sponsored the Tournament for the first time in 2009
- 2010 is the second year to be hosted in Wichita
- Special Olympics Kansas is celebrating 40 years
- Expecting around 500 athletes and coaches, and 120 volunteers
- Athletes will participate in one of four softball divisions (t-ball, coach pitch, slow pitch and unified)
- Volunteers will participate in unified games (half volunteers, half Special Olympics athletes)
- High Touch has raised enough funds to cover the cost of the Tournament
- Employees have contributed enough money to provide each athlete and coach with a commemorative t-shirt, water bottle and bracelet
- American Legion riders are participating in Opening Ceremonies (Saturday at 7:55 am)
- High Touch President/CEO Wayne Chambers will throw first pitch (CAC, field #4)
- Girl Scouts will hold state flag and Special Olympics flag during Opening Ceremonies
- An athlete will sing the national anthem and recite the athlete oath
- Texas Roadhouse will cook hamburgers and hot dogs for athlete, coach and volunteer lunches
- Cupcakes will be provided with lunch to celebrate Special Olympics Kansas’ 40th anniversary
- Pizza dinner and dance will be provided for athletes at Campus High School
- Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the softball games
