HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TALLBOY!!! 6/26/09
I'd like to wish a super happy day to my wonderful husband Scott!
AND ... I'd like YOU to wish it to him too!
You can do just that tonight at Highlands Gastropub and Cardroom. We're gonna be there at 8pm for cocktails and birthday fun!
Just check out these drink specials they are running this summer (not just tonight!!!):
ALL draft beer is $1.50 a pint (including Guiness - a Tallboy favorite!)
Crown Royal Drinks are $2.50
Ketel One martinis are $2.50
My boyfriends over at Highlands REALLY know how to run a special!
And, if you enjoy poker and like to help puppies and kitties find good homes, they are doing something really cool over the next couple of weeks! Every hour on the hour, they are running single-table poker tournaments to benefit the Kansas Humane Society! So, you can win some big bucks AND your donation goes to the Kansas Humane Society to help homeless pets! It's a WIN-WIN!
As soon as 10 people are ready to play, the cards fly!
This is in addition to the free poker tournaments that they run EVERY day at 10am and 8pm.
So, stop in and see my boys (and girls- you'll LOVE Jess the bartender) over there, order dinner and play some cards for a good cause!
As for me, I have a 15 hour drive in front of me tomorrow (I'll probably be a passenger for at least 13 of those hours), since me and the Tallboy are driving to Michigan! My puppy-dogs are pretty excited for Aunty Cheryl to come live in the house with them for a week ... it's like vacation for them too ... only they get WAY more spoiled than we do!
So, have a great week and a fantastic 4th of July holiday!
See you back here on Monday the 6th!
=)
Here's the pictures! 6/24/09
I have to show you my new friend Dublin!
He's the super sweet Scottish Terrier I got to meet on Sunday at the Cotillion. Oh yeah! There was this other guy there too ... Dublin's daddy - American Idol winner David Cook!
David was so nice ... and very gracious. He signed a whole bunch of stuff for the silent auction at Woofstock to benefit the Kansas Humane Society and hung out for a lot longer than I expected! I also learned his assistant is a little camera-shy. Okay ... she HATES having her picture taken!
I think he enjoyed reading the article in the Eagle that I brought for him to autograph.
He was also very cordial to our "Buzz Correspondent" winner Elizabeth Terry. She got to interview David for our webchannel.
This is one of the things that makes my job so cool!
Thank you, David, for being so nice and for loving the puppy-dogs!
Have a GREAT tour!
=)
I am the biggest nerd! 6/22/09
This story should give you some indication as to the canine-centered nature of my existence.
Yesterday I was at the Cotillion to take a winner backstage to meet American Idol winner David Cook. She won the "Be a Buzz Correspondent" contest and got to interview him before his show. I got there early to set up the video equipment and arrange things with David's tour manager.
The Tallboy and I were in the greenroom and we'd just finished setting up when a security guard came in and said, "Sunny, your winner is at the will-call window." So, I started toward the front door, but as soon as I stepped into the hallway I saw the cutest little Scottish Terrier ... so, of course, I had to get on the floor and love on him for a minute. And I can't love on a puppy-dog without doing that goofy baby-talk that makes me sound like a complete idiot! After about 45 seconds of this sweet little critter crawling all over me and licking my face, I heard Scott behind me say, "Ummm, honey?"
That's when I looked up and noticed that my new friend was being walked by his daddy ... David Cook!
I was completely oblivious that there was a celebrity on the other end of the leash.
This is very typical for me.
Most people coo and fuss over human babies ... and I think babies are wonderful, but a puppy will make me lose my mind!
David's Scottie puppy named Dublin falls into the SUPER SWEET category. It was love at first sight for me ... and I think Dublin may have felt the same since he pulled on his leash and tried to get into my lap during most of the interview. Leave it to me to wreck countless hours of obedience training by spoiling a dog!
Before he went back to his tour bus, David thanked me for being so nice to him AND his dog. I told him I was a little embarassed that I noticed his dog before I noticed him ... and he just laughed and said it was the first time that had happened to him.
David Cook is one of the most gracious and kind celebs I have had the pleasure to meet. He was very generous with his time during the interview and so laid back and down-to-earth. He also signed SEVERAL items for me to put in the silent auction at Woofstock to benefit the Kansas Humane Society ... so make sure you check those out at the event!
Check in tomorrow to see the pictures of my new friend Dublin!
Oh yeah ... and his daddy too!
=)
Let me know what's going on with you! I'd love to hear about your day!

Pet Prozac
Wow a doggie on prozac that has to be a challenge. Before I came into the picture my wife said her vet told her she might have to do the same thing with our calico. But i came along and she mellowed out. Life without pets would be very BORING.

Doggies deserve spoiling too
Well just because Dublin's daddy is a celebrity does not mean he doesn't deserve star treatment also. WTG sunny as i have said many times pets make life better too.---Jeff
