Take a Bite Outta Extra Time
Luis Suarez, who plays for Uruguay’s national soccer team, could be thrown out of the World Cup games after biting an Italian defender.
The two got tangled up, and Suarez bit the Italian on the shoulder. The referee didn’t see it, so there was no penalty called, but it’s clear on the videotape. This isn’t the first time Suarez has been accused of biting an opponent. It happened twice before, once in 2010 and again in 2013.
World Cup officials will have to decide if he can continue to play. Most people think they’ll suspend him. And FIFA, soccer’s governing body, could ban him from the sport for up to two years.
If that happens, not to worry. Suarez can probably land a gig on the last season of True Blood. They’re running low on vampires.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering what the man on the street has to say about this, TMZ asked around. And this particular man of the street – well, he sort of looks familiar, don’t you think? (And honestly, maybe TMZ asked one or two questions too many...)
