Whew...ever have the feeling that you need a weekend from your weekend? Well, that's how I feel after my crazy Christmas weekend!!
I'm counting my weekend as starting on Thursday because that was when we had the Entercom Christmas Party at Mosely Street Melodrama! I was a little nervous about the melodrama because I don't like to participate when I go to the theater. I want the entertainment to come at me...not include me. My nerves were for nothing though because the melodrama was a blast! I lol'd a lot and had a really great time! I also reconnected with my old friend Steve Hitchcock who is a performer in the Christmas show. You should definitely check it out-- if you can't make the Christmas show go to one of the shows throughout the year! Did I mention it's a dinner theater too so you get to eat BBQ before the show? Totally a great way to spend a night out!
***Note - Everything in this blog is worth checking out so get used to me telling you to 'check it out' because I wouldn't write about it if I didn't think it was cool!
Friday brought the arrival of the After Work Party at Heroes in Old Town! The AWP was crazy fun (as usual) and we've added TONS of new ways for you to WIN free stuff so please come join us. I'm there EVERY Friday from 5-7p at Heroes in Old Town.
After Heroes, the whole family went to Illuminations at Botanica. I love this every year but this year was extra fun with the addition of the children's garden. My niece Anna liked the grape lights the best, my nephew Layne loved writing a letter to Santa and my favorite were the lights set to music. If you are looking for a great event for the whole family to enjoy, this is where you want to go! It's open every evening from 5:30-8:30p except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so find some time to go 'check it out!'
Saturday brought an early morning to go have breakfast with Santa! The whole family went and yes, the whole family got our picture taken with Santa. (No, I don't have a copy of it right now to post!) Santa heard my Christmas wish list and he assured me that if I remain on the nice list I'll get what my heart desires. Yay, Santa! You should check that guy out too! Ha!
Saturday night took us to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater for 'White Christmas.' This was a wonderful conclusion to our Crazy Christmas Weekend! We arrived, were seated in a wonderful little half circle booth and took off for the buffet line! The food was yummy and there was a good variety. Okay, who am I kidding? There were mashed potatoes...that's all I really remember. I love musicals but had never seen 'White Christmas' before so I was excited. The show began promptly at 8pm and was a delight. The refurbished Crown Uptown has only been open a couple weeks so there are still some kinks with the service to iron out but overall we had a wonderful experience! I'm super excited about the upcoming shows in 2012 I may even buy season tickets! I'm talking about 'Wizard of Oz,' 'A Chorus Line' and 'Sweeney Todd.' My little food and musical loving heart is bursting with excitement over the return of the Crown Uptown!! To stay consistant, you should definitely check it out!
See? Overall, a wonderful, fun and crazy Christmas weekend! Now what are you waiting for? Get out there and have a crazy Christmas weekend of your own!
Last night I went with a couple of friends to 'Paint the Towne' to create soon-to-be priceless masterpieces!! This place is SO cool! They provide the canvas, paint, brushes, aprons and anything else you might need to create a masterpiece!  They even provide wine glasses and let you bring cocktails! Painting, booze and I don't even have to clean up?!  Let's be honest, this is going to become one of my favorite places real quick! You gotta check them out www.paintthetowne.com!
Every night at PTT is a different painting that everyone in attendance paints together with a 'pro' guiding. Last nights painting was the 'Funky Flower.' It's a lot of fun to see how different everyone's painting looks even though we're all painting the 'same' thing!
I'm already itching for them to release their November schedule so I can sign up for more! Â
And now, without further ado, I present to you 'Funky Flower' as created by Lynette 'Monet', Jamie 'Picasso' and Emily 'Van Gogh!!'
Let's see what I can make of this! I'm going to try to keep you up to date on the happenings around Wichita and the happenings I happen to be attending. Ha. You can also keep up with Dusty and myself on the Buzz facebook page. That is a great place to request songs, ask us questions or just say hello!! We're always wanting to hear from you and no comment goes unanswered! I also have a twitter account you can follow www.twitter.com/emily_stevens
Speaking of twitter (and firsts)...
Last night I went to my first 'tweet up' at Stroud's. A 'tweet up' is a meeting of people who communicate on Twitter. At least I think that's how it's defined. All I knew is that some wonderfully fun ladies I know and yummy Stroud's food would be at this 'tweet up' and that is all I really needed to know! I ended up meeting lots of really great people and had a really good time! It definitely won't be my last tweet up! I encourage you to join sometime. I mean, seriously, look at the smiles on these faces!
Tonight I embark on another first...Paint the Towne. Have you heard of it? Again, it's something I don't know at lot about but I do know you get to paint a picture and have adult cocktails while doing it. Score and score! Check them out online at www.paintthetowne.com. I'll try to remember to take a picture of me with my newly painted artwork tonight to post on the blog tomorrow.Â
Until next time, have a great Thursday! =)
